Things to Know at 25(ish): Number 11
11. Don’t Get Stuck This is the thing: When you hit 28 or 30, everything begins to divide. You can see very clearly two kinds of people. On one side, people who have used their 20s to learn and grow, to find God and themselves and their dreams, people who know what works and what doesn’t, who have pushed through to become real live adults. Then there’s the other kind, who are hanging onto...

2012 New Year's Resolution
Break down the walls that I’ve somehow built around myself in 2011. Be more open to new experiences and to people. Rekindle old friendships. Make new ones. Invest time in building relationships with the people around me. Be more generous with my time and effort. Get out of this bubble of stagnant contentment. Quit idling around and do something. This is the year of the dragon - the year of...

2 Years Later
Excerpt from a blog written in June 2010:   For purposes of not speaking at all too soon, I will not say that this puppy dog relationship will surely get through anything. I will also not say that I have completely thrown away my beliefs about long distance relationships, because, to be very honest, I haven’t. Why else would I be scared, right? Fortunately, what I’ve discovered in...

I’ve always had the habit of marking lines or sometimes even whole pages that I like in books that I read. I would do this for a number of reasons - the line struck me, the scene entertained me or moved me, it made a whole lot of sense, it was good advice or filled with wisdom… whatever the reason, I mark these parts so I could go back to them whenever I wish. I don’t know when...

Jeje ka
(Ryan arrives eating ice cream)
Oli: What kinda ice cream is that?
Ryan: Oh, it's the best ice cream in the world.
Oli: What what? Ben & Jerry's?
Ryan: No, Bluebell.
Oli: Ay panget *sticks tongue out*
Ryan: *laughs* Jologs ka!
Hearing Ryan say "Jologs ka!" super cracked me up! HAHAHAHAHA damn, that was funny. I can't get over!

–  A new song I learned from one of my little preschooler bundles of joy! Imagine it being sung by a 3 yr old with an aussie accent! It’s quite possibly the most adorable thing ever.

Girl: Okay okay! You're handsome!

Living in my Paranoia
A friend told me he wondered what it would be like living in my paranoia. Nowadays, I’ve been looking behind my back more often (literally and figuratively), afraid of whatever bad thing that can happen. In this day and age, the unfortunate possibilities are endless. There’s always something to be scared about. My mom told me I can’t live in fear. But my dad also told me that...

Something I'm still learning
We have to believe in a person’s natural goodness. But in the same way, we should also be wary of every person’s imperfection. It’s tricky to expect too much. When you put someone in such a high pedestal, you give them a bigger chance of letting you down. The challenge is to be happy despite everything else thats imperfect.

Breakfast at Tiffany's
Holly: Listen. You know those days when you get the mean reds?
Paul: The "mean reds?" You mean, like the blues?
Holly: No. The blues are because you're getting fat or it's been raining too long. You're just sad, that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you're afraid, and you don't know what you're afraid of. Don't you ever get that feeling?

The Never Forgotten Good Old Days
Today, I had one of those good days. And it consists of fairly simple things: the boy I love, a nice place away from the rest of the world (or at least, seemingly so), copious amounts of food of the fried and unhealthy variety (a.k.a. pizza, fried chicken and junk food), a television, a dvd player, a nice movie and some wonderfully corny local telenovelas (i.e. Rubi and Magkaribal) to cap it all...

Privacy Settings
I struggle at figuring out how much I should reveal to the world and how much I should keep to myself. Even as I work on these privacy settings, I find myself posting thoughts and bits of myself for the perusal of all. I try to hide, yet I long to share and be seen and heard.  In short, I hate internet scams.
